BTS Becomes the First All-Asian Act to Grace the Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

On May 14 KST, the Rolling Stone, a popular American magazine, released the photos, making films, and interview with the seven-member superstar group, BTS, who graces the cover of the magazine for its June issue, “The Future of Music,” through Rolling Stone’s official website.

In the 54 years of history since Rolling Stone was founded, this is the first time an all-Asian act was selected for the cover, making it a groundbreaking release for the magazine, as well as proving BTS’s power and influence around the world.

In the magazine’s cover photo, it features all seven members of the group – RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who are looking at the camera with a mix of facial expressions.

Through an article titled, “The Triumph of BTS,” Rolling Stone focused on how the seven young members of BTS re-established the rules in the music and entertainment business, and became one of the biggest acts in the world.

The article also appraised BTS as a group that reached “boundary-smashing, hegemony-overturning global success,” for showing off their global influence, as well as consisting of members who possess outstanding skills – which “feels like a glimpse of a new and better world.”

In the interview with Rolling Stone, BTS shared a variety of stories, including the monumental achievements of the all-English song, “Dynamite,” which was released in August last year; the group’s success in the American music market; and an introduction to their upcoming and second all-English song, “Butter,” set to release on May 21 at 1pm KST.

On the other hand, Rolling Stone plans to release each member’s individual digital covers through their official website for seven days, starting on May 14.

Rolling Stone, BTS Cover: Collector’s Edition Box Set

As this is an iconic moment for both BTS and Rolling Stone, the magazine will be releasing a limited “Collector’s Edition Box Set” that features BTS’s group cover and the individual covers of each member.

The set will include eight collectible BTS covers: the newsstand cover that features all the members in an exclusive photoshoot with Rolling Stone taken in South Korea back in April 2021, and individual covers with each member posing for their own magazine feature.
