‘Big 4′ Labels’ Physical Album Sales for the First Half of 2021 Revealed

The total physical album sales of HYBE, YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and SM Entertainment for the first half of 2021 have been revealed, according to Gaon Chart from January to June.

SM Entertainment Tops Physical Album Sales for the First Half of 2021

For the first half of 2021, “Big 4” label, SM Entertainment, had accumulated the most number of physical album sales, with a cumulative number of 9,238,118 album copies sold from all of their artists.

Not only that, but half of their cumulative album sales is from NCT alone, who has a total of 5,025,765 album copies sold across all of their albums released so far.

SM Entertainment’s best-selling artist as of this moment is NCT DREAM, who sold 3,390,828 album copies from January to June.

NCT DREAM’s big numbers is also thanks to their recent album releases, such as their first full-album, “Hot Sauce,” which had a total of 2,049,042 physical albums sold. While their first-ever repackaged album, “Hello Future,” sold over 869,086 album copies.

EXO also showed impressive numbers with 2,443,351 album copies sold, with 1,216,175 of that coming from their special album, “Don’t Fight the Feeling,” released in June. Baekhyun’s third mini-album, “Bambi,” also takes up a big portion of EXO’s numbers, with “Bambi” selling 1,043,013 album copies.

HYBE Has the Second Most Physical Album Sales for the First Half of 2021

Following behind SM Entertainment is HYBE, formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment. According to Gaon, HYBE has a cumulative of 5,862,156 physical album copies sold from January to June, across all of their artists combined.

HYBE’s label, Big Hit Music, had sold the most number of albums with 3,383,310 copies. Despite not releasing a Korean album this year, BTS still raked in the numbers, accumulating a total of 2,403,862 physical album copies sold.

A chunk of those sales came from their latest album release, “BE,” which was released in November 2020 and had sold 970,197 albums for the first half of the year.

In addition, TXT sold 979,448 album copies, with “The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE” having sold 784,394 albums.

SEVENTEEN, who is managed by Pledis Entertainment, has a cumulative of 1,745,945 physical album copies sold. While BeLift Lab, a joint label by HYBE and CJ ENM, sold almost a million copies with 730,663 album copies sold thanks to their only artist, ENHYPEN.

JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment are Third and Fourth in Physical Album Sales

Following HYBE are JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment with the third and fourth most physical album sales for the first half of 2021. JYP Entertainment has a total of 1,546,355 album copies sold, while YG Entertainment has a total of 1,384,044.

TWICE is currently JYP Entertainment’s best-selling artist, having a total of 630,942 albums sold, with their 2021 release, “Taste of Love,” taking 522,876 of that portion.

ITZY is their second best-selling artist, with 353,052 album copies sold.

As for YG Entertainment, more than half of their album sales is from BLACKPINK – specifically Rosé who made her solo debut in March this year. With her solo debut album “R,” Rosé had accumulated a total of 587,818 album copies sold.

TREASURE is also YG Entertainment’s second best-selling artist, having a total of 329,863 copies sold with their 2021 releases.
